First overnight hike that my husband took me on was in the Smoky Mountain National Park. We were on our honeymoon and not prepared to go backpacking. I remember him carrying one of those 2 1/2 gallon water jugs in his backpack so we would have safe water to drink. We have come a long way in 30 years.
We did a couple of backpack trips to Isle Royal National Park in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. With just the knowledge of what my husband knew and help form the sales people at REI. In 2005, we found an outdoor club (SOLAR – School for Outdoor Leadership Adventure and Recreation) that taught basic backpacking. One of the best classes I ever took. I learned all of the things that my husband had taught me to do wrong. Since we took this class, we have become pretty avid backpackers. I have also been helping teach both the basic and intermediate backpack class at SOLAR over the last 10 years.
Between hiking with my husband and my new friends from SOLAR, I have hiked all around the eastern US. I have done several week long trips in Michigan (isle Royal National Park and Porcupine Mountain State Park) , Pennsylvania (Laurel Highlands Trail), Georgia (Appalachian Trail) and South Carolina (Foothills Trial). Along with many weekend trips. My longest trip I have taken is an 80 mile / 8 day hike on the Laurel Highlands Trail.
I can assure you that finding and drinking water on the trail is essential. In the last 12 years, I have owned three different water filters. Each one was purchased due to weight, size and easy of use. Without water filters, hiking and backpacking would not be as fun or safe as it is today.
Ever wonder how other Sales Professionals are successful? What they do to make (or break) the sale? How professionals from other industries view the water treatment industry?
Moti-Vitality helps eliminate that guesswork with the MV Pro Call!
Moti-Vitality holds a weekly MV Professional conference call as a way for the water treatment Sales professionals to get together and learn from each other. We do not discuss specifics about our companies or products but rather the issues that effect our industry and our place in is as sales professionals. We often have guest speakers such as realtors, appliance store owners, builders, water heater manufacturers etc, that can directly address questions we run into when we are speaking with our customers. We are becoming experts by speaking with the experts.
